Tanzania Safari

A Tanzania safari is usually built around the country's wildlife masterpiece, the Serengeti. And there's no question that the Serengeti is indeed one of the world's most impressive safari destinations - after all, any place that hosts an annual migration of over a million wildebeest and zebra, harried on all sides by big predators, has to be a winner.

There are other classic safari destinations too: the extraordinary Ngorongoro Crater and vast, trackless Selous Game Reserve are both jam-packed with wildlife but did you know that a Tanzania safari can also take you chimpanzee tracking in the steaming rainforests of Mahale or Gombe Streams let alone trekking up Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest and most iconic peak?

And just in case you thought a safari in Tanzania was all about the Big 5, you'll be more than pleasantly surprised to discover sublime tropical beaches, incredible scuba diving and the jewel of the Indian Ocean -spicy, sultry Zanzibar. Why not experience a combination 'beach and bush' safari for the ultimate thrill.

Experts Reviews

The areas I recommend you visit in Tanzania are the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, the snow capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro, and the beaches of Zanzibar. The Serengeti is world famous for the annual wildebeest migration and for the birthing season (great for predators!) and the Ngorongoro Crater is ranked as one of the wonders of the natural world. Tanzania is often less luxurious (and more expensive) than Botswana and South Africa but it will be an experience you will never forget!
